2000 STUDER S145 CNC GRINDING MACHINE
Manufacturer: STUDER
Model: S145
Year: 2000
CNC Control: GE FANUC 16i-TB
Machine Type: CNC cylindrical grinding machine
Internal Grinding: 4-spindle configuration
The STUDER S145 is a precision CNC grinding machine configured for
demanding internal grinding applications. Its four-position internal
spindle arrangement allows different grinding spindle configurations
to be selected during production, making the machine suitable for
complex components requiring several internal grinding operations.
The machine is equipped with CNC-controlled workhead functions for
form and thread grinding, together with a swivelling grinding head
arrangement for angular applications.
Working Range
Approximate machining envelope:
Maximum workpiece envelope: 19.7” × 4.7”
X-axis travel: 4.7”
Z-axis travel: 19.7”
Maximum swing over bed: 13.8”
Centre height: 7”
Maximum internal grinding diameter: 11.811”
Maximum internal grinding depth: 4.7”
Maximum workpiece load: approximately 176 lb
Grinding Spindle System
The machine uses a turret-style wheelhead incorporating four
selectable internal grinding spindle positions.
Internal grinding spindle speeds are available over a broad range from
approximately:
24,000 to 120,000 rpm
The frequency-controlled spindle arrangement allows the appropriate
spindle to be selected according to the grinding operation and tool
requirements.
A wide range of spindle configurations was available for the S145, so
the exact spindle package and accessories should be confirmed with the
machine.
CNC & Axis Functions
Control: GE FANUC 16i-TB
The machine incorporates:
C-axis on the workhead for form and thread grinding
Q-axis for angular positioning/swivelling of the grinding head
Q-axis swivel range: approximately ±30°
CNC control of the grinding operations
Frequency-controlled internal grinding spindles
These functions allow the machine to perform more than straightforward
cylindrical internal grinding and make it suitable for components
requiring form, angular and thread-related grinding operations.
Machine Construction & Equipment
The S145 is built on a rigid Granitan machine base and is enclosed for
production grinding.
Equipment/features include:
