GBS test pulse rev3 pulse generator for long-term insulation tests
The test pulse structure is intended for long-term insulation tests on
test specimens of up to 6 nF capacity.
Inverter for high-voltage test transformer
· Internal sine wave generator: 50-200Hz.
· Pulse width modulation 16-24kHz of the sine over full bridge.
· Inverter voltage 0-600V adjustable, Imax=2.6A, maximum power
1.3kW
· Pulse current limit 110A (cut-off threshold)
Pulse transformer – control
· Control via full bridge
· Full bridge power supply adjustable 0-1000V, 1.3A max.
· Pulse current limit 100A (cut-off threshold).
· Pulse width 20-120μs, nominal 94μs, adjustable
· 2 selectable series inductors 150μH, 300μH to adjust the pulse
width or rise times to load capacitance and voltage.
· Pulse repetition rate 0.1 – 2.5 kHz, adjustable.
· Polarity: Adjustable positive, negative, or alternating depending
on the polarity of the sine signal.
· Cosine-shaped pulse at the transformer output
Pulse transformer cascade
· Output transformers in 5-fold cascaded circuit.
· Total ratio selectable by tapping as 1:7.7, 1:10 or 1:15.
· Maximum output voltage 15kV at possible load capacities of: 6nF

Repeat frequency of 2.5kHz 10nF with a pulse width of 103μs at a
repeat frequency of 1.25kHz
· Voltage divider 1:1000 parallel.

· Thermistor for overtemperature detection in the 1st transformer
stage.
· Ground-side current measuring socket 100 mV/A.
Breakdown detection, testing
· If the maximum bridge currents for the transformer controls are
exceeded, or
if the maximum currents of the bridge power supplies are exceeded,
the high voltage is switched off.
· The device has a resettable operating hours counter to determine
the test time.
