It is used for the precise milling or undercutting of the mica insulation between the individual copper lamellae of a collector. The mica joints are detected by a laser optical system. A stepper motor then automatically positions the armature from lamella to lamella. The milling cutter is automatically raised during the return stroke. According to the data sheet, the machining time is approximately 0.8 to 1.3 seconds per lamella.
