Brough Superior model MKI. This is a 1000cc sidevalve sport model from
1926. After this model came the SS80 and SS100, which had a closed
frame under the block. The use of the MKI frame came to an end in
about 1925 but was used for racing motorcycles for a while longer
because the later frames were much heavier. The MKI frame usually had
the older models web forks but this one already has the new and better
Castle fork. The engine block is a JAP 1000cc sports block with large
valves (45mm). In the photos you can see that an AMAL double float
chamber has been mounted on which it runs well, but now there is a
Binks mousetrap racing carburettor, on which it also runs very well.
Amal is easy to operate and Binks is much nicer and more special but
slightly more difficult to operate. When you buy you can choose which
one you want. This model from Brough Superior is still the beautiful
model in my opinion with the heel straps, Bonniksen speedo and narrow
tank with oil pump and dripper.
