This Gimret UHT system is a continuous installation for sterilizing by heating, to ensure that a prepared liquid mixture is free from bacterial endospores, the mixture is passed through a sterilizer prior to the drying process. To obtain a continuous flow in the sterilizer, the material is first accommodated in a buffer tank from which the sterilizer is fed by using a dosing pump (low pressure). To kill the bacterial endospores a temperature of at least 135°C is required for a period of 5-7 seconds. To reach this temperature, steam is injected into the mixture that is dosed from the dosing pump. A meandering pipe works then realizes the required residence time at a set temperature of minimum 135°C.
