The system is operated with pressurized insulating gas to supply the specified voltage range of the operation. nitrogen is used for the pulsergefaess for the entire range, wherethe pulse generator pressure of atmospheric pressure (0 psig) reaches to a maximum (60 psig). With 60 psig nitrogen, the pulse generator has at least 27 kV per capacitor and thus delivers a pulse of about 54 kV to the peaking capacitor.
