Overview This Haloila Octopus 1800 SFTS TWIN is an automatic rotary-ring stretch wrapper for palletised loads, built in 2008. It was built by Oy M. Haloila Ab and delivered under the ITW Mima Packaging Systems brand; the Octopus line is sold today under the Signode name. The machine is still installed, under power and running in production, and can be inspected in operation. The rotating ring carries the film carriages around the stationary pallet, so the load itself is never turned. In the TWIN configuration two film carriages run on the ring, which is what carries the output: up to 100 pallets per hour with standard overlap and 21 wraps. Euro pallets and half pallets are processed. A top sheet unit is installed, functional and in daily use. The machine has no automatic reel change (RCS). Containers are fed in through a single infeed worm and an eight-division star, held on servo-driven bottle plates while the labels are applied, and discharged through the same star pitch. It raises bottles between the levels of a filling line and works with two synchronously running endless chains whose carrier elements take the bottle from both sides, so the container is guided upright over the whole climb. The nominal capacity is 45,500 bottles per hour at a conveying speed of approximately 60 m/min. The conveying width is set by hand crank across a range of 20 to 150 mm, so a format change needs no tooling.
