During the process, a filter cake builds up from retained solids, which increasingly takes over the filter effect of the filter cloth. Thus, the initial surface filtration becomes a cake filtration with depth effect.
With the "classic" chamber filter presses, the entire filtration cycle is driven via the feed pump. It starts with high throughput volume flow at low W4444960 back pressure. As a result of the building up filter cake, the volume flow decreases with simultaneously increasing back pressure.
