Bag Filter Plant and Settling Chamber
The Deduster utilizes a bag filter system to effectively extract and
filter fumes and dust generated during Electric Arc Furnace and Ladle
Furnace operations. The Quencher acts as the primary suction and
cooling train for the Consteel® preheating tunnel, using a settling
chamber and water spray system to rapidly lower hot gas
temperatures.
Type / Scope: Fume extraction and dedusting plant (bag filter) for the
60 t/h Electric Arc Furnace with Consteel, plus Ladle Furnace
Key technical data:
Bag filter type AJ-D-9(4×16)-3M/192, flow rate 1,000,000 Em³/h,
130°C max, 18 compartments, 3,456 bags, ≈12,150 m² total filtering
surface
Main duct (filter inlet): Ø3,500 mm, 706,964 Nm³/h at 48°C
2× centrifugal exhaust fans, type XB 250, 500,000 Em³/h each, 1,800
kW installed power each, 6 kV motors
Stack: Ø5,100 mm, 37 m high, continuous dust emission monitoring
(SICK-MAIHAK FW100 probe)
Stack dust emission limit: < 5 mg/Nm³ (dry gas)
Design air volumes: Consteel outlet 73,000 Nm³/h 1,050°C; Ladle
Furnace 25,000 Nm³/h 130°C; canopy hood 300,000–550,000 Nm³/h
60°C (tapping)
Control system: Siemens S7-300 based PLC with SCADA/HMI
Quencher (Settling Chamber)
Manufacturer: Techint/Tenova
Year of Manufacture / Reference: 2005
Type / Scope: Primary fume suction and cooling train from the
Consteel® preheating tunnel: suction pipe → settling chamber →
gas cooling (spray system)
Key technical data:
Suction pipe from Consteel®: water-cooled, pipe-to-pipe construction,
Ø≈1,800 mm, length ≈8 m
Settling chamber: concrete construction, refractory lined; settles
coarse dust and completes CO → CO₂ combustion where needed
Wide water-cooled door for coarse dust evacuation by front-end loader;
fitted with explosion relief doors
Gas cooling: spray-nozzle system (water + compressed air); water
requirement 20 m³/h; compressed air ≈1,300 Nm³/h
Cooling unit includes water pumping station with two pumps (one duty,
one stand-by)
