FINN-POWER LP6 punch laser machine was manufactured in 2008 in Finland by FINN-POWER OY. The machine was used for machining AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel sheet metal. Since its purchase, it has been regularly serviced by the manufacturer and has undergone annual technical inspections.

The FINN-POWER LP6 is designed for the comprehensive machining of sheet metal with a maximum thickness of 8 mm. It enables both punching and laser cutting in a single work cycle, reducing the need for additional operations on other machines. The combination of both these technologies in a single system speeds up task completion times and increases the efficiency of the production process.

The punching process is performed by means of a hydraulic cylinder, whose stroke and speed are fully numerically controlled. The ability to programme the upper stroke limit enables the punch movement to be precisely adjusted to the thickness of the workpiece, whilst adjustment of the cylinder’s lower position enables compensation of the tool lenght without the need for additional shims. The punching system is equipped with an automatic overload protection mechanism, which protects the machine’s components during intensive use.

The hydraulic punching cylinder cooperates with a 20-station turret with interchangeable tool holders. This solution allows for flexible configuration of the head according to current production requirements. Automatic tool change takes place by rotating the turret along the shortest path to the programmed tool. During punching, the head is mechanically locked in place by pneumatic conical positioning pins. The CNC Index Tool system enables tools to be rotated automatically to any programmed angle. The indexing mechanism operates simultaneously with the movement of the X and Y axes, meaning that punching, stamping and nibbling at various angles can be carried out without the need for manual tool change.

The FINN POWER LP6 punch laser combination machine is equipped with a ROFIN DC025 laser source with a power of 2,5 kW. It generates a high-quality beam with stable parameters, which is delivered to the cutting head via a closed, water-cooled, optical system with overpressure. This solution protects the beam from dust and other contaminants, ensuring the highest cutting quality. The cutting head features a quick-change system for 5″ and 7.5″ lenses and moves along the vertical axis using a servo drive. The autofocus function automatically adjusts the focal position according to the thickness of the material. All cutting process parameters, such as laser power, nozzle height and gas pressure, are selected automatically by the CNC control system according to the material code selected in the ControlLink database. Beneath the cutting head are two independent work chutes designed for small and larger parts, through which the finished parts are fed onto the conveyor.

The sheet metal is positioned on a coordinate table, which precisely moves the material along the X and Y axes. The programmable speed and acceleration of the axes enable the adjustment of movement parameters to suit the performed operation, whilst the automatic repositioning function of the sheet along the X axis enables the machining of larger workpieces. The material is clamped to the table by four clamps with a central locking system. The patented PCS system automatically positions the clamps according to the prepared programme and monitors their position during operation. It also defines safety zones to prevent collisions with tool holders.

The machine is operated via a SIEMENS SINUMERIK 840D CNC controller with an intuitive interface. The control system ensures convenient programming and full control over the machining process. All this is complemented by a design based on a rigid ‘O’-type frame, which guarantees the highest stability even during intensive use. The FINN-POWER punch-laser machine weighs 18000 kg.
