KEMET 36, diamond lapping machine, diameter mm 900, 3 rings, Diamond slurry dispenser (water based) + standard oil based slurry dispenser, Spare lapping plate available (option), This machine can be inspected under power in our warehouse Test run possible Mimu Machine Tools Gussago BS Italy, Lapping is a [machining](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machining) process in which two surfaces are rubbed together with an [abrasive](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abrasive) between them, by hand movement or using a machine., This can take two forms. The first type of lapping (traditionally called [grinding](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grinding_machine)), involves rubbing a brittle material such as [glass](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass) against a surface such as [iron](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron) or glass itself (also known as the lap or grinding tool) with an abrasive such as [aluminum oxide](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminum_oxide), [jewellers rouge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeweller%27s_rouge), [opticians rouge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerium(IV)_oxide), [emery](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emery_(mineral)), [silicon carbide](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_carbide), [diamond](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond), etc., between them. This produces microscopic [conchoidal fractures](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conchoidal_fracture) as the abrasive rolls about between the two surfaces and removes M4436876 material from both., The other form of lapping involves a softer material such as [pitch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitch_(resin)) or a [ceramic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceramic) for the lap, which is charged with the abrasive. The lap is then used to cut a harder material—the workpiece. The abrasive embeds within the softer material, which holds it and permits it to score across and cut the harder material. Taken to a finer limit, this will produce a polished surface such as with a polishing cloth on an automobile, or a polishing cloth or polishing pitch upon glass or steel.
